Matin Bayani is an Iranian-Canadian artist living and working in Vancouver, BC. She is a self-taught artist and at the young age had forged many significant associations with Master Painters, including Ayden Aghdashloo, Bobak Etminani, and Yakob Amamepich. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in "Rule of Space in Composition", from Azad Tehran University in 1994. Her works have been featured in solo shows and group exhibitions on three continents. Matin's private collections can be found throughout Canada, US, Germany, Australia and Iran.
In her work Matin often uses contemporary ideas combined with strong and controlled traditional technique. Her work is a blend of fiction and fact integrated carefully in an imaginative space and is most often expressed through people's emotions.
In Her Own Words:
"The nature of my work varies from time to time, and it usually involves people, their emotions, and places that surround them. I try to capture the immediacy and truth of a given moment in color, light and shade."
Matin lived in Stuttgart Germany for 5 years before moving to Canada and choosing Vancouver as her home in 1999.
